    Scan

    45 min

    An intraoral scan, photographs and a panoramic radiograph. No impression putty. The scan takes about four minutes.

  2. 02

    Plan

    10 — 14 days

    Dr. Farouk stages every movement tooth by tooth, decides attachment placement and builds the simulation. You review it together and it is revised until you agree.

  3. 03

    Align

    6 — 18 months

    Aligners changed weekly at home. Attachments bonded at the first fitting. Reviews every six to eight weeks to confirm tracking against the plan.

  4. 04

    Refine

    4 — 8 weeks

    Almost every case gets a refinement stage: a short second series that corrects the last few tenths of a millimetre. It is included, not an upsell.

  5. 05

    Transform

    Final visit

    Attachments removed, edges polished, final photographs taken against the day-one set.

  6. 06

    Retain

    Ongoing

    A bonded wire behind the front teeth plus clear night retainers. Teeth move for life; retention is not optional.

What it is

Invisalign

Clear aligners move teeth the way fixed braces do — through sustained, controlled force — but in a sequence designed entirely in advance and delivered by a series of removable trays.

The technology is not the hard part. The hard part is the plan: knowing which movements aligners genuinely achieve, which ones need attachments or elastics, and which cases should be wearing brackets instead. Dr. Farouk has completed over 1,200 aligner cases and is unusually direct about that last category.

Every Aurelia aligner plan is cross-checked against the restorative and surgical plan before a single tray is printed.

What the next fortnight looks like.

  1. First 48 hours of each tray

    A feeling of tightness or pressure, which is the tray doing its job. It fades by the second night.

  2. First week

    A slight lisp on one or two sounds while your tongue adapts. Almost always gone within days.

  3. Throughout

    No dietary restrictions, because the aligners come out. Twenty-two hours a day is what makes the plan hold.

  4. After the final tray

    Retainers from the same day. Full time for three months, then nights indefinitely.

Mild crowding often finishes in six to nine months. A more complex case with bite correction runs twelve to eighteen. Dr. Farouk gives you a specific number after the scan, not a range from a brochure.
Each new tray feels tight for a day or two — pressure rather than pain — and that settles. Most patients change trays at night so they sleep through the first hours.
Go back to the previous tray and call us. We either move you forward early or order a replacement, depending on how far into the week you were. It is not a crisis.
Aligners handle the large majority of crowding, spacing and mild-to-moderate bite correction. Severe skeletal discrepancies, significant rotations of round teeth and some extraction cases are genuinely better in brackets. You will be told which category you are in at the first appointment.
Yes, and it is the single factor that decides whether your treatment finishes on time. The plan is calculated on that wear time; at sixteen hours a day the teeth do not track and the series has to be remade.
