What it is

Porcelain Veneers

A veneer is a thin shell of porcelain bonded to the front of a tooth. Done badly, it is a row of identical white rectangles. Done well, it is invisible — because the shape, the proportion and the way it catches light were designed for one specific face.

Aurelia designs every veneer case digitally, prints it, and fits it as a temporary mock-up you wear home. You live with the new smile for a week, photograph it, show it to people who will be honest with you. Only then do we prepare the teeth.

Dr. Vogel manages the gum line first in every case. It is the difference between a smile that looks expensive and one that looks done.

Smile analysis
90 min

Photographs, video of you speaking and laughing, facial measurements and an intraoral scan. We are designing for a moving face, not a still one.

Digital design
Behind the scenes

Tooth proportion, midline, incisal edge curve and gum line are designed against your facial landmarks and presented to you as a rendering.

The trial smile
60 min

The approved design is printed and placed over your unprepared teeth. You wear it for a week and tell us what to change.
04

Preparation & impression
3 hours

Minimal enamel reduction guided by the approved design, then a precision scan. Temporaries matching the trial smile go on the same day.
05

Ceramic layering
10 — 14 days

Our ceramist layers the porcelain by hand, building translucency and internal character rather than painting a flat shade on.
06

Try-in & bonding
3 hours

Fitted dry first so you can approve them in daylight and under the clinic lights. Bonded individually once you are certain.

You approve it before it is permanent

The trial smile is worn for a week. Changes to length, width or character are made on the mock-up, not on your teeth.

Minimal preparation

Most of our cases sit between 0.3 and 0.6mm of enamel reduction. Where the design allows it, we prepare nothing at all.

Porcelain does not stain

Unlike composite bonding, glazed feldspathic porcelain holds its colour against coffee, tea and time.

The gum line is designed too

Uneven gum heights are corrected before the ceramics are made, so the finished smile is symmetrical where it actually shows.

Far less than the images circulating online suggest. Our typical preparation is 0.3 to 0.6mm of enamel — about the thickness of a fingernail — and in some cases none at all. The trial smile tells us in advance how much room the design actually needs.

Only if they are designed to. We design for your face: your lip line, your midline, your age. The trial smile stage exists precisely so you can veto anything that looks like someone else.

It depends on how wide your smile is when you laugh, which we film at the first appointment. Some cases need six, some ten, some only two to correct asymmetry. We do not sell a standard number.

Twelve to fifteen years is a realistic expectation with good hygiene, and many go longer. The commonest reason for replacement is a change in the gum line over time rather than failure of the porcelain.

Porcelain does not lighten, so we whiten first, let the shade stabilise for two weeks, then design the veneers to match. Doing it in that order is what keeps the rest of your teeth in harmony with them.
