What it is
Root Canal Therapy
A root canal removes infected or inflamed tissue from inside a tooth, disinfects the canal system and seals it. It is the alternative to extraction, and the reason a tooth you were told to lose can still be there in twenty years.
The reputation is outdated. Modern endodontics performed under a microscope with proper anaesthesia is, for most patients, comparable to having a large filling placed — long, but not painful. The pain people remember is the infection that brought them in, and that stops the same day.
Dr. Reda works exclusively under magnification and takes the retreatment cases other clinics have declined.

You keep your own tooth
No implant, no bridge, no gap. A treated tooth with a good coronal seal is a long-term tooth.
The pain stops
The infection driving the pain is removed at the first appointment. Most patients sleep properly that night for the first time in days.
Canals that are actually found
The second canal in a lower molar and the MB2 in an upper are missed routinely without magnification. Under the microscope they are found and treated.
Sealed against reinfection
Warm vertical obturation fills the whole canal system, including the lateral branches that a single cone leaves open.

Diagnosis
40 minSensibility testing, radiographs and — where the anatomy is unclear — a small-field CBCT that shows the canal system in three dimensions.

Anaesthesia & isolation
15 minProfound anaesthesia confirmed before anything starts, then rubber dam isolation so the tooth stays sterile throughout.

Access & canal location
30 minA conservative access cavity under the microscope. Every canal orifice is located visually, not by feel.

Shaping & disinfection
45 minRotary nickel-titanium shaping to length measured electronically, then ultrasonically activated irrigation — the step that actually kills the bacteria.

Obturation
25 minWarm vertical compaction of gutta-percha, filling the canal system three-dimensionally rather than just down the middle.

Coronal seal & restoration
Same or next visitA bonded core placed immediately, then a cuspal-coverage restoration. A treated molar without proper coverage fractures; this step is not optional.

Small-field CBCT
Focused 3D imaging that reveals extra canals, resorption and missed anatomy that flat radiographs hide.
Rotary NiTi with electronic apex location
Working length measured to the apical constriction rather than estimated from a film.
Ultrasonic irrigant activation
Sodium hypochlorite agitated through the canal system so disinfection reaches the lateral anatomy.

What the next fortnight looks like.

First 24 hours
The tooth feels tender to bite on — inflammation in the ligament, not infection. Ibuprofen handles it.

Days 2 — 4
Tenderness fades steadily. Chew on the other side until the final restoration is placed.

Two weeks
The tooth should feel unremarkable. Anything else, we want to see you.

Six and twelve months
A review radiograph confirms the bone around the root tip has healed. This is how we know it worked.
